Mills From The Wood Elfin's Workshop:

All of my mills are made from non-toxic woods such as Maple, Hawaiian Koa, Myrtle and many others which do not have a strong natural aroma (cedar world probably compete with the aroma of your pepper).  Most of my mills are finished with glossy tung oil applied in many thin coats then polished, buffed and waxed so the finished product has a smooth and glossy feel.  I leave the interior of my mills natural so that the finish will not contaminate the contents, even though the finish is non-toxic.

The mechanism that I use is called the CrushGrind, its grinding mechanism is made of ceramic which will not rust or dull and in addition to grinding salt and pepper it will grind dried spices or even coffee beans (not sure why you would want to but it will).

Here are some handy tips for your new salt or peppermill!!

The following are some of my most popular styles and I can make you one from your choice of wood.  I can also combine styles so if you like the lid of one mill and the body of another one I can combine the styles for you.

The prices quoted below are starting prices based on commonly available woods such as Maple, Redwood, Walnut, etc. prices will increase as the cost of the wood increases such as burl and exquisitely figured woods. Some of the more exotic woods may be quite a bit more.  As an example, a piece of Amboyna burl large enough to make a 12 inch mill may cost as much as $100.00 or more which will make a substantial difference in the price.

Simple Slope Top Mill, click for a larger image.

Simple Slope Top Mill.  This is one of my most popular mills.  The simple lines and elegant flow of the design makes it a very classy mill.  This style looks best in a 7 inch to 9 inch height although it can be made taller. This style starts at $125.00

Styilized Slope Top Mill, click for a larger image.

Stylized Slope Top Mill.  This slope top mill is similar to the simple slope top with the addition of a design band on the bottom of the mill, this mill has a double cove.  This not only makes the mill more distinctive it allows for a taller mill to be made. This design starts at $145.00.

Round Top mill, click for a larger image.

Ball Top Mills.  In addition to my slope top mills I offer a round top mill for a more classic mill look.  This particular design has my basic curves with a band on the bottom with a single cove. This design starts at $135.00

This mill is a sample of a completely different design.  It has a concave body with a beaded band at the bottom with a sort of sloped square top.  As you can see there are many possibilities when designing the perfect mill for your table. This style starts at $135.00.

This set is a much smaller mill in a simple design that is meant to be used at the table.  While a large mill  can be used at the table it is more likely to be knocked over but it shines in the kitchen where its length makes it easier to hold out over a hot pot or spicing that large salad.  These mills are around 5 inches tall and the design possibilities are limited only by your imagination. These mills start at $75.00 each.
