This is the piece of burl that the bowl was made from. It is roughly 3 to 5 inches high and 8 inches wide at the widest point. | Here I have drilled a hole in the top to create a flat spot for a place to put the headstock and I am beginning to shape the bottom of the bowl. | |

Once the bottom is shaped it will be reversed and held by a tenon on the bottom and the inside will be hollowed out. | This is close to the final outside profile. Next it will be sanded and finished on the outside then the inside will be hollowed out. | ||
